Career pivots aren't easy.

But they're possible, even in today's tough job market. Which is good, because I seem to be meeting more and more people who want to pivot. Just a sign of the times...
I've pivoted a few times myself, there are four basic steps
1️⃣ Very obvious, but not always simple - figure out where you want to pivot to
2️⃣ Figure out your transferable skills
3️⃣ Map your transferable skills to your target industry and/or role
4️⃣ Make the pivot happen
Let's talk about where to pivot to - I'll come back to the other steps in future posts. Some people intuitively know. For others, it requires some introspection and reflection. Solid, durable pivots align with your core values. Think of this as the foundation for your career change. Without a solid understanding of this, your job search will lack focus and clarity.
Ask yourself: when have you been happiest at work? What activities or environments, outside of the pay grade, truly energized you? This isn't about the job title; it's about the deep-seated principles that guide your decisions. A great tool for this is the simple Values Exercise. The Dream Job worksheet builds on that.
