Many of us have felt it. It’s that nagging feeling that even though you’re ticking boxes in one area of your life, other parts are collecting dust. Maybe your career is flying — but your health, your relationships, your hobbies...not so much.

Truth is, most of us are flying blind. We don't have a simple way to see the big picture.

That's where the Wheel of Life comes in. It’s a simple circle - divided into segments - as spokes of a wheel. Typically there are eight spokes (or axes) representing core areas of a fulfilling existence:

  • Career & Work: Are you satisfied and growing professionally?

  • Money & Finances: Do you feel in control of your financial situation?

  • Health & Fitness: How’s your physical and mental well-being?

  • Family & Friends: Are you nurturing these important relationships?

  • Partner & Romance: How fulfilled are you in your romantic life?

  • Fun & Recreation: Are you making time for joy and hobbies?

  • Personal Growth: Are you learning and evolving as a person?

  • Spirituality: Do you feel a sense of purpose and meaning in life ?

So how do you complete it?

  1. Grab a Pen and Paper. Seriously, that’s all you need. Draw a large circle. Now, draw four lines through the center point, dividing the circle into eight equal segments, like a pizza. Or, you could just download worksheet.

  2. Label Your Segments. At the end of each line (or "spoke"), write the name of one of the life areas: Career & Work, Money & Finances, Health & Fitness, Family & Friends, Partner & Romance, Personal Growth, Fun & Recreation, and Spirituality. Feel free to change these life areas if others are more relevant to you!  Or, download my worksheet

  3. Rate Your Satisfaction (This is the important part). Now, imagine the center of the wheel is 0 (totally dissatisfied) and the outer edge of the circle is 10 (fully satisfied). For each segment, ask yourself: "On a scale of 0 to 10, how satisfied am I with this area of my life right now?" Don’t overthink it. This is a gut check, not a doctoral thesis. Make a mark on the spoke that corresponds to your number.

  4. Connect the Dots. Once you have a mark on each of the eight spokes, connect them with a line.

And that’s it. You’ve done. You now have a visual representation of your life’s balance.

So, what does it look like? Is it a big, round, smoothly rolling wheel? Or is it a jagged, bumpy, lopsided shape that would make for a very uncomfortable ride?

Simply put, it’s an infographic for your soul. And a well-designed infographic can make information immediately comprehensible and consumable. It takes that vague, hamster-wheel feeling and turns it into a clear picture.

For many, it’s a genuine "aha" moment. But don't let the shape fool you into thinking it's a final judgment. It's just a snapshot. In a later post, we’ll talk about what it all means and why that bumpy shape is actually the first step toward a smoother journey.

PS. Don't ya just love the nonsense words in AI generated images? Don't ever lose touch with reality...
